Crack Repair

Repairing cracks is essential for prolonging the life of your parking lot. At Hammett asphalt we have several options for repairing a deteriorating parking lot. The different repair options are crack filling, mill and fill, and remove and replace. Crack filling consist of cleaning the cracks with brooms and blowers, then pumping hot rubber down into the cracks sealing them up. Mill and fill is a type of repair involving a 2' wide cold planer on the front of a skid steer. This method allows us to remove the surface layer around failing areas and resurface it with a new 2" layer of asphalt. Lastly we can repair cracks and larger deteriorated areas also known as alligator areas by saw cutting around the bad area. Saw cutting around the area allows for us to preserve asphalt that is in better shape. this type of repair removes all layers of asphalt and regrade the stone base. After the stone base is inspected and compacted we install two new layers of asphalt.
